Race Rules

Long Course

Racers are expected to be at the Portlock Point water start area by 10:00am which is 100 meters south of the point. All racers must be sitting on their boards for the starting gun. Course marshalls on jet skis will be managing the start line so that no one is in front of the line or gets a rolling start. Please cooperate and help shepherd others to insure a fair start.

Once the gun goes off there are no restrictions other than you must make a right shoulder turn at the buoy marking the channel to Makalei Beach Park and you must cross the finish line buoys even if it means paddling in to it. If you pull out of the race please let race officials know by calling (808) 255-6255.

A leash is required on the long course. The long course will close at 12:30pm. Any long course racer not finished by 12:30pm will be given a DNF.

Short Course

Racers will be responsible for collecting their own time via GPS watch. The window for completing the course is from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. Prone foilers are not required to turn around the channel marker buoy but must cross the finish line buoys. Racers can do as many runs are they want and must report their times after each run. Distance traveled will be checked to insure the times are for the whole course. The racer's best time will be used. A running leaderboard will be at the finish showing the fastest times.
